Aftercoolers are heat exchangers for cooling the discharge from a air compressor. They use either air or water and are an effective means of removing moisture from compressed air. Aftercoolers control the amount of water vapor in a compressed air system by condensing the water vapor into liquid form. In a distribution or process manufacturing system, liquid water can cause significant damage to the equipment that uses compressed air. An aftercooler is necessary to ensure the proper functionality of pneumatic or air handling devices that are a part of process manufacturing systems. Aftercoolers can use either air-cooled or water-cooled mechanisms.

Oil, liquid and water particles are removed from inlet air by a pre-filter & filtered air passes through the lower shuttle vale into the on-stream vessel. 2. The wet air flows upward through the desiccant bed, which becomes dry air. Dry air @ -40ºC PDP (standard) or –73.3ºC PDP (optional) exists through upper shuttle valve and splits into process air & low flow purge air. 3. Purge air flows into top of regenerating vessel and dry purge air flows downward through vessel removing moisture from saturated vessel. 4. Wet purge air exists vessel through lower purge valve into exhaust muffler & to atmosphere as a vapour

Long desiccant life - beds size tto prevent fluidization plus slow and complete regeneration prevent desiccant movement and deterioration. Heavy duty purge exhaust muffler for quiet opperation. Non-lubricated, soft seated control valves. Stainless steel support screens and air diffusers-filters out gross contaminents, protects valves. Furnished in cabinet for easy wall mounting completely assembled, pipe, and wired shipped with full charge of desiccant only hook-up of utilities is needed to opperate. Vessels are constructed to meet the requirements of ASME code, section viii, devision 1 and stamped (optional, 55SCFM larger)  How It Works Compressed air enters the drier and is directed to left vessel by valve and then to the drier outlet through shuttle valve. A portion of the dried air is throttled to near atmospheric pressure by means of orifice. The extremely dry, low pressure air flows through and regenerates the desiccant in right vessel and is exhausted through purge/repressurization valve and exhaust muffler to atmosphere. After a set time, the automatic solid state timer closes purge/repressurization valve allowing right vessel to repressurize slowly. At the end of 3 minutes (when operating on a 6 minute cycle). Valve shifts and purge/repressurization valve re-opens. The main airflow is now dried by right vessel while left vessel is being regenerated.
